Chris Adams for Addiscombe East

I have lived in Croydon for over 30 years and in Addiscombe since 1999, when my wife Sue and I moved here when expecting our first child. We soon became a family of four, with our son and daughter attending local schools and the family active in local clubs and churches. We are glad to have so many good friends and neighbours here and privileged to be part of the community we love.

While working as a business trainer, I have always made time to contribute to the wellbeing of our area and my participation in local organisations has got more involved over time.

I became a school governor, then chair of governors; a residents’ association street rep, then chair of the residents’ committee; a Neighbourhood Watch coordinator, then a member of the borough-wide Watch committee. In that role, I recently secured funding from the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime in London to raise safety awareness amongst young women in Croydon.

I am currently chair of the Safer Neighbourhood Team Policing Ward Panel and in the chaplaincy team at Croydon University Hospital.

Even as I have done my best to make our area and borough a better place, I have not stood as a councillor in Addiscombe East until now, trying instead to work with our Labour and Conservative councillors to improve things.

But enough is enough.

I am standing to represent Addiscombe East because this borough is in desperate need of change – fresh ideas and new councillors who are not entangled in Croydon’s horrendous history of mismanagement.

After almost 20 years of decline – from shoddy property developments and slashed services to neglected high streets – it is high time to stop giving Labour and the Conservatives “one more chance.” We can see how things only get worse when left to those who pay more heed to their party whips than to the residents they are meant to serve.

If chosen as your councillors in the May 2026 elections, Lee and I will prioritise people over party and really listen to, and represent, residents’ concerns. Support us if you would like to see that change.
